Cost: Topstep vs Tradeify
The two firms charge in different ways. Topstep's Trading Combine is a monthly subscription that runs until you pass. Tradeify sells one-time evaluations with no activation fee on any plan. Tradeify's own GEMS code, advertised on its homepage until October 31, 2026, takes 30% off evaluations. Topstep does not publish a sitewide code of its own; codes from its affiliate creators take 20% off the first month.
| 50K account | Topstep | Tradeify Select |
|---|---|---|
| Evaluation, list price | $49 per month (Standard) or $95 per month (No Activation Fee) | $165 one-time |
| Evaluation with a code (Oct 25, 2026) | $39.20 first month on Standard (20% creator code) | $115.50 (GEMS, 30% off) |
| Activation fee | $149 on Standard, none on No Activation Fee | None |
| Pass in one month, cheapest route | $95 (No Activation Fee) | $115.50 (GEMS) |
| Pass in two months | $190 (No Activation Fee) or $237.20 (Standard with a creator code) | $115.50 |
| Reset | $49 (Standard) or $95 (No Activation Fee) | $109 |
If you pass in the first month, Topstep's No Activation Fee path is the cheapest. Every extra month adds to Topstep's bill, while Tradeify's price stays the same, so Tradeify is cheaper for anyone who needs more time. After a failed attempt, a Tradeify reset ($109) costs more than a Topstep month.
Tradeify's 50K Growth evaluation, which you can pass in one day, is priced separately; see our Tradeify review for every plan. Codes change, so check the price at checkout.
Rules and drawdown
| 50K evaluation | Topstep | Tradeify Select |
|---|---|---|
| Profit target | $3,000 | $3,000 |
| Maximum drawdown | $2,000, end-of-day trailing | $2,000, end-of-day trailing |
| Daily loss limit | Optional ($1,000–$3,000, chosen at checkout) | None |
| Max contracts | 5 minis | 4 minis |
| Consistency rule | Best day below 55% of the target | Best day below 40% of profit (50% add-on) |
| Minimum days | 2 | 3 |
The target and drawdown are the same, and both firms keep an end-of-day trailing drawdown after you are funded. Tradeify's Select evaluation has the stricter consistency rule, so you need at least three days, but once funded Select has no consistency rule at all. Topstep applies one when funded only if you choose its Consistency payout path.
If you want to pass in one day, Tradeify's Growth evaluation has no consistency rule but adds a soft daily loss limit ($1,250 on 50K) that pauses trading for the day. Topstep's 55% rule means at least two days.
Topstep limits funded size with a Scaling Plan (2 lots at the start on 50K, 5 lots at $2,000 of profit).
Payouts: Topstep vs Tradeify
| 50K funded account | Topstep Express Funded Account | Tradeify Select Daily | Tradeify Select Flex |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profit split | 90% | 90% | 90% |
| When you can withdraw | 5 winning days of $150+ (Standard) or 3 days (Consistency) | Daily | 5 winning days of $150+ |
| Cap per payout | $2,000 (Standard) or $3,000 (Consistency), up to 50% of balance | $1,250 | $2,500, up to 50% of profit |
| Funded daily loss limit | Optional | $1,000 | None |
| Max funded accounts | 5 | 5 | 5 |
Both firms pay 90%. Tradeify Select Daily is the only one of these routes with daily payouts, in exchange for a smaller cap and a daily loss limit. Select Flex and Topstep's Standard path both pay after 5 winning days, and Flex has the higher cap.
On Tradeify funded accounts, a microscalping rule applies: more than half of your trades and of your profit must come from trades held longer than 10 seconds before you can request a payout.
For the next step, Topstep's Risk Team calls traders up to a Live Funded Account with no dollar cap and daily payouts after 30 winning days. Tradeify cites three approved payouts as the milestone for its live program, Tradeify Elite, which is by invitation.
Platforms and trading rules
Topstep runs on TopstepX, with Quantower as the only alternative. Tradeify supports Tradovate, NinjaTrader, TradingView, Tradesea and WealthCharts, with Tradovate or Rithmic data. If you trade on NinjaTrader or TradingView, Tradeify is the only option of the two.
- News: Tradeify has no news rules on any account. Topstep allows news trading but bans trading your full maximum size into major scheduled news.
- Automation: Topstep allows automated strategies in the Combine and Express Funded Account.
- Overnight positions: neither allows them. Close by 3:10 PM CT at Topstep and 4:45 PM ET at Tradeify.
- Accounts: both allow up to 5 funded accounts. Tradeify limits Select purchases to 5 per 30 days.
Trust and track record
Topstep has run its Trading Combine since 2012 in Chicago and says it has paid more than $1.5 billion to traders. It owns Topstep Brokerage, a separate introducing broker and NFA member. Tradeify says it has paid more than $350 million to traders, and its affiliated broker, Tradeify Brokerage LLC, is a CFTC-registered introducing broker and NFA member, according to Tradeify.
Both firms publish their rules in detailed public help centers, which we used for this comparison.
Bottom line
Pick Tradeify if you want a one-time price with no activation fee, an end-of-day drawdown, no news rules, no funded consistency rule on Select and a choice of daily or 5-day payouts, or if you need NinjaTrader or TradingView. Pick Topstep if you expect to pass quickly at $95, want automation, a long track record and a real path to uncapped live payouts, and are happy on TopstepX. Topstep vs Tradeify FAQ
Is Topstep or Tradeify better?+
They are close in our rating (Topstep 4.9, Tradeify 4.6). Topstep leads on trust and track record, with a live path and uncapped live payouts. Tradeify leads on flexibility: one-time pricing with no activation fee, end-of-day drawdown on every account, no news rules and a choice of daily or 5-day payouts.
Which is cheaper, Topstep or Tradeify?+
It depends on how long you take to pass. A 50K Tradeify Select evaluation is a one-time $165, or $115.50 with Tradeify's GEMS code (30% off until October 31, 2026), with no activation fee. Topstep's No Activation Fee path costs $95 a month, so it is cheaper if you pass in the first month; after that, Tradeify's one-time price wins. Topstep's Standard path costs $49 a month plus a $149 activation fee.
Does Tradeify have a consistency rule like Topstep?+
In the evaluation, yes. Tradeify Select uses 40% (best day under 40% of profit), stricter than Topstep's 55%, so it needs at least 3 days. Once funded, Select has no consistency rule, while Topstep only applies one (40%) on its Consistency payout path.
Which pays out more often, Topstep or Tradeify?+
Tradeify, if you choose Select Daily: you can request payouts every day, up to $1,250 per payout on 50K. Select Flex and Topstep's Standard path both need 5 winning days per payout, with caps of $2,500 at Tradeify and $2,000 at Topstep on 50K. Both pay 90%.
Can you use NinjaTrader at Topstep or Tradeify?+
Only at Tradeify, which supports Tradovate, NinjaTrader, TradingView, Tradesea and WealthCharts. Topstep runs on TopstepX, with Quantower as the only alternative.
What is the Tradeify microscalping rule?+
On Tradeify funded accounts, more than half of your trades and more than half of your profit must come from trades held longer than 10 seconds before you can request a payout. Topstep has no equivalent holding-time rule.
